Poppy Seed Dressing
Inspired by Fedora Café and Bar - One of Sugar Grove’s most frequently requested recipes
Makes 6 servings
1 cup sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
1-1/2 teaspoons course salt
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/8 cup Sugar Grove Vineyards Havest Home or Jubilee Blush wine
1 cup plus 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1-1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
In the top of a double boiler, combine the sugar, mustard, salt, vinegar and wine. Cook over hot water until the sugar is dissolved, then transfer to a blender. With the motor running, slowly add the oil to thicken. Add the poppy seeds and blend. Refrigerate until needed.
Works great over a salad of spinach, cinnamon-toasted pecans, fresh strawberries and blueberries, red onion and poppy seed garnish—one of our most-requested recipes!
