Vineyards

In 1994 we moved to our present 120-acre farm in Jasper county, Iowa and continued to plant and harvest row crops of corn and soybeans. In 2000, we reconsidered the use of our rolling land. Knowing that Iowa had once been a major grape-growing state, we decided to give grapes a try. We now grow 11 acres of French-American hybrid and Native American grapes.

All of our wines are made in the lower level of the grange building in our state-of-the-art winemaking room, where you can get an insider's glimpse into how your favorite wines are created, from fermenting to bottling and labeling.

Sugar Grove Vineyards & Gatheringplace offers award-winning Iowa wines to complement any taste. Each of our wines is made from cold-climate grapes, so you can be sure you are enjoying the best of the Midwest. Our friendly staff would be happy to give you a tasting and help you select the perfect wine for any mood or occasion. Many visitors enjoy the landscape as they sip a Sugar Grove wine accompanied by our gourmet cheeses and bread. Our vineyard manager would be happy to give you a tour of our vines. As a bonus view our small herd of domestic elk, which graze next to the vineyards and pond.
